Heights, IL – Antenex, Inc. announces the release of their new 4 GHz high frequency Trapper Surge Protector. Due to the increase in installations for systems beyond 1 GHz, Antenex has added the 4 GHz model to the current 1 GHz model. This new model is specifically designed for high frequency using type N female connectors with gold plated contacts and Teflon dielectric. The unit also features extremely low insertion loss (0.066dB @ 2.5 GHz) and high power handling capability (20kA – 8/20 ms waveform). A patented gas tube technology with extremely low capacitance is used, giving the unit capability in wide-band applications ranging from DC to 4 GHz. The gas tube changes from an open circuit to a short circuit in the presence of a voltage surge giving the surge a direct path to ground. The redirection of energy to ground can help to protect sensitive wireless equipment from this energy. Maximum transmitting power capacity for the unit is 70 watts. The unit is bulkhead mountable and is designed with a copper alloy housing a silver plated (CuZnSn) finish.
